Archiving & Data Policy

The International Journal of Cultural Analysis and Social Change (IJCASC) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, integrity, and responsible management of scholarly content published by the journal. This Archiving & Data Policy establishes the principles and practices governing the preservation of published articles, supplementary materials, research data, and other scholarly records associated with the journal.

1. Digital Archiving

IJCASC is committed to maintaining the long-term availability of all scholarly content published on its website. Published articles, including their bibliographic information, abstracts, full texts, references, and associated supplementary materials, are preserved as part of the journal's digital scholarly record.

The journal aims to ensure that published content remains accessible even in the event of changes to the journal's website, publishing platform, or organizational structure.

2. Preservation of Published Articles

Once an article has been formally published, the published version constitutes part of the permanent scholarly record of IJCASC. Published articles are not ordinarily removed from the journal's website.

In exceptional circumstances, such as serious ethical violations, legal requirements, or demonstrable risks to individuals or the public, an article may be subject to correction, retraction, or removal in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures. When such action is necessary, the journal will preserve an appropriate bibliographic record and provide a clear explanation of the action taken whenever possible.

3. Author Data and Research Materials

Authors are encouraged to preserve research data, datasets, instruments, methodological materials, and other supporting documentation underlying their published research.

Where appropriate and ethically permissible, authors should deposit research data in a reliable institutional, disciplinary, or general-purpose data repository. Authors should provide a persistent identifier, such as a DOI, for publicly available datasets and other research materials when available.

Authors remain responsible for ensuring that deposited research materials comply with applicable ethical, legal, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, and consent requirements.

4. Data Availability

IJCASC encourages transparency and reproducibility in scholarly research. Authors should provide a Data Availability Statement where applicable, indicating whether the data supporting their research are:

  • publicly available in a repository;

  • available upon reasonable request;

  • available only under specific conditions because of ethical, legal, privacy, or confidentiality restrictions; or

  • not applicable because no research data were generated or analyzed.

Where research data cannot be made publicly available, authors should provide an appropriate explanation without disclosing confidential or personally identifiable information.

5. Protection of Sensitive and Personal Data

The journal recognizes that some research involves sensitive, confidential, or personally identifiable information. Such data must not be publicly archived when doing so could compromise participant privacy, confidentiality, safety, or legal rights.

Authors are responsible for anonymizing or de-identifying research data where appropriate and for obtaining the necessary informed consent and ethical approval before collecting, sharing, or archiving research data.

No personal data should be deposited or published without a lawful and appropriate basis for disclosure.

6. Supplementary Materials

Supplementary materials associated with published articles may include datasets, tables, figures, research instruments, appendices, methodological documents, multimedia materials, and other supporting information.

Authors should ensure that supplementary materials are accurate, appropriately documented, and free from material that infringes copyright, privacy, confidentiality, or other legal rights.

7. Persistent Access and Identifiers

IJCASC supports the use of persistent identifiers to improve the discoverability and long-term accessibility of scholarly publications and research materials. Where applicable, articles and associated research outputs may be identified through persistent identifiers such as Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

Authors are encouraged to use persistent identifiers for datasets and other research outputs whenever such identifiers are available.

8. Repository and Self-Archiving

Authors may be permitted to deposit or archive versions of their manuscripts in institutional repositories, subject repositories, academic profiles, or other appropriate scholarly platforms, subject to the journal's copyright and licensing terms.

Authors should ensure that any deposited version accurately identifies the article's publication information and, where applicable, provides a link or reference to the definitive version published by IJCASC.

9. Data Integrity and Research Transparency

Authors are expected to maintain accurate and complete research records sufficient to support the integrity of their published work.

Research data should not be fabricated, falsified, manipulated, selectively omitted, or otherwise misrepresented. Where concerns arise regarding the integrity or reliability of research data, IJCASC may investigate the matter in accordance with its publication ethics and research integrity procedures.

10. Retention of Editorial and Publication Records

IJCASC seeks to retain relevant editorial and publication records for an appropriate period to support scholarly accountability, publication integrity, and the administration of the journal.

Such records may include manuscript submission information, editorial decisions, peer-review records, publication metadata, correspondence, corrections, retractions, and other documentation necessary to maintain the integrity of the publication process.

Access to confidential editorial and peer-review information will be restricted to authorized individuals and will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements.

11. Corrections, Retractions, and Version Control

If an error or problem is identified after publication, IJCASC may publish a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction, as appropriate.

The journal will seek to maintain a transparent scholarly record by clearly identifying changes to published content and preserving the relevant publication history. Where technically possible, the original publication record will remain accessible together with an appropriate notice describing the subsequent action.

12. Long-Term Preservation

IJCASC recognizes digital preservation as an ongoing responsibility. The journal will make reasonable efforts to maintain multiple forms of digital preservation and to protect published content against accidental loss, corruption, unauthorized alteration, or technological obsolescence.

Where appropriate, the journal may collaborate with institutional repositories, scholarly preservation services, libraries, or other trusted archival organizations to support long-term preservation.

13. Access to Archived Content

The journal is committed to maintaining reasonable and continuous access to its published scholarly content. Archived publications should remain available to researchers, students, academic institutions, policymakers, and the wider scholarly community, subject to applicable copyright, licensing, privacy, and legal restrictions.

14. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for:

  1. maintaining appropriate research records;

  2. ensuring the accuracy and integrity of submitted research data;

  3. complying with ethical and legal requirements concerning data collection and sharing;

  4. protecting confidential and personally identifiable information;

  5. providing accurate Data Availability Statements where applicable; and

  6. depositing research data in appropriate repositories when required or encouraged by the journal or relevant research standards.

15. Policy Review

IJCASC may periodically review and update this Archiving & Data Policy to reflect developments in scholarly communication, digital preservation, research data management, publication ethics, privacy regulations, and international best practices.

Any substantial changes to this policy will be communicated through the journal's official website.

Commitment to Scholarly Preservation

The International Journal of Cultural Analysis and Social Change (IJCASC) considers the preservation of scholarly publications and responsible research data management essential components of academic integrity. Through this policy, the journal seeks to support the long-term preservation, accessibility, transparency, and responsible reuse of scholarly knowledge while respecting ethical, legal, privacy, and intellectual property requirements.
